Powers and Maguffins
So Mozenrath's powers and abilities have changed considerably in this new incarnation, so going over some of the basic bits.
The Gauntlet
This is an object of his own invention in this incarnation, which, based on what I'm drawing its look from, could probably do physical damage on its own, as it has claws. What it was built to do, however, is what Xerxes typically does, only faster when he's putting his back into it, and not tied at all to Mozenrath's deity. It draws magic in from about a 20 ft radius when he wears it, but when he's not actively doing anything while wearing it, the effect is extremely small and subtle, taking so little energy that most might not even notice. With effort, the effects are much faster -- someone might suddenly get the dizzies if he's pulling hard enough. This thing is a double-edged sword, though. It pulls from his life force as well, just considerably less so if there's something bigger and more magical for it to use. When he's completely alone and the only thing magical it's just him. Overuse of the gauntlet is actually why he had to come here in the first place. It could kill him very easily, and it can be stolen or destroyed. The trouble is that he's drawn to wearing it, not just because it does things faster and he's not as patient as he lets on, but also because he's only just shy of using it compulsively.
Xerxes
Xerxes works a little differently in this incarnation. Not a fully self-aware, speaking creature as he was in the TV series (and not simply a flying eel, either), he's a thirdac, a creature that devours magic, and normally, if he were not tied to Mozenrath and existed only in the Nether, it would be everywhere. However, because he is Aaguul's boon to him, he now only eats the magic that Mozenrath finds for him (or that attacks Mozenrath). Normally the size of a small horse, he's about the size of his TV series counterpart, because after twenty-eight years of Mozenrath being completely frozen in time, he's starving. He serves the purpose of healing and protecting the sorcerer, but when Mozenrath uses his necklace to open portals, they're usually into corridors of total darkness (that are very easy to get lost in), and Xerxes is the only one that can lead him through there safely. He can also bring very simple things back to him from designated places, like the Land of the Black Sand -- the most common thing he brings to him when he has need of it is black sand. Xerxes can smell and track magic, and if he's near enough to Mozenrath, the sorcerer can empathetically sense that too. He doesn't seem to need to communicate verbally with Mozenrath, but on occasion "he" does, when Aaguul chooses to speak through him.
The Necklace
Aaguul's necklace has a silver/pewter chain, containing a deep violent jewel. Its wearer, though seldom offered, is bound to Aaguul and referred to in lore as a "living consort." It represents a mutual pact between the mortal chosen and the deity, and it cannot be removed unless Mozenrath willingly consents to remove it and takes it off, himself. It is the conduit through which he can summon Xerxes, but it is also what allows him to open portals. It also allows Mozenrath to manipulate black sand.
Basic Powers
Tracking - Mozenrath can use a number of simple spells to track magic -- and specific magic, if he has a mark he's chasing.
Pyrokinesis - It looks as though Mozenrath's most common magical attacks revolve around blue fire. However, he also has kinetic blasts that look very similar but are actually just bolts of force. Based on this and the next point, however, it should probably be borne in mind that if he were given cause to practice he would probably not have a lot of trouble acclimating himself to other elemental powers being used in an aggressive manner.
Stone shaping - If there's enough masonry within immediate reach, he can ensnare someone with stone hands.
Levitation - He's shown some ability to make himself or other objects fly.
Black Sand Manipulation - This involves commanding it to take various shapes, both dangerous and benign, creating "blasts" of sand, and with the combined use of fire he can create glass objects that are impervious to magic and can contain any magical being if he shapes it correctly. He is working on a means to use it to create portal traps, which would allow him to capture people in a single pocket dimension if they were to sink/fall into it. He won't be able to develop this further without permission from Aaguul.

The Gauntlet
I have the opportunity to limit his use of the object as much as possible so I can, to a degree, pick and choose who he uses it on. If you ever want this to be a thing and are cool with it, hit me here.
Xerxes
If Xerxes can sense magic and types, what might he sense on you? Be as creative with this as you want. Also note: He can probably be spied in various places around New Dodge, usually just glimpses as all he has to do is slip into a shadow and be gone. What's more, however, is that at night probably the easiest way to spot him is that his eyes glow. Being near magical things can sustain him, and he won't attack or attempt to feed without orders (or unless somebody attacks him).
General Senses
Mozenrath can sometimes sense magic like Xerxes can, but it has to be exceedingly powerful, like a god or something nearly at that level. If you think he should pick something like that up from you, hit me here.
